I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, where I began my musical studies. An important influence on my skills and taste as a violinist was given to me by one of my teachers Raina Manolova, who supervised my development during the most fruitful years of my education. Thanks to her I became sensitive to the importance of the sound, its creation in the mind and the means to transpose it through the instrument straight into the hearts of the audience. At this early age, I was not yet aware that this was going to be a major part of a whole concept on which my work will be based.
Being involved in Historically Informed Performances I give special attention to the emotions, which the music consists of; this expressive charge which the performers of our time, of the Romantic or of the baroque epoch, are devoted to forward to their listeners.
In 2008 the European Union Baroque Orchestra was my entrance door to the professional early music stage. Since then tours with the orchestras Arte dei Suonatori, Holland Baroque Society, La Chambre Philharmonique, as well as numerous encounters with great leaders such as Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Enrico Onofri, and concerts as soloist have strengthened my experience. Especially important today is my involvement as concertmaster with Les Ambassadeurs – an international orchestra, directed by Alexis Kossenko – whose aim is to promote the power of eloquence in music. Vivaldi's concerti con molti stromenti, Rameau's operas, Pisendel's violin concertos, and numerous works by Mozart, Handel, CPE Bach, Fasch are among our directions of work.
During my student activities and professional engagements in my home country I gained experience by participating in various musical formations, by having the responsibility of leadership and broadening the most usual violin repertory with works of composers little known in Bulgaria, such as Schmelzer, Biber and Zelenka. My search for better understanding of the different styles in music and art, as well as the awakened interest for the rich European heritage of musical treasures, led me to specialize in baroque violin. As a result I became not only aware of the technical and aesthetic aspects of the instrument, but I also discovered an honest, emotional and convincing way of speaking through my violin.
